Denise Hazen
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Welcome! I’m Denise Hazen, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s from the Jane Addams School of Social Work at UIC. I have 20 plus years of experience working with families, children, and adults in a variety of settings. My goal as a therapist is to help create a space for clients to feel comfortable sharing their journey with me. The key is to build a trusting, respecting relationship with empathy and acceptance. I would describe my counseling style as warm, with kindness, humor and objectivity. I will be an active listener and work collaboratively with you to achieve your goals, and I will work with you to develop lasting skills to guide you through your life challenges. Together we will increase your tolerance to handle uncomfortable emotions and situations to improve your wellbeing.
I have experience working with clients who have anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, parenting concerns, relationship challenges, trauma, adjustment disorder or problems, life transitions, self-harm, and self-esteem. I believe in the strengths-based approach, utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and starting where you are in your journey. I will focus on your strengths and we can build together from them to determine which approach best suits your needs.
I respect and appreciate your courage to seek support, especially during these uncertain times. I look forward to hearing your concerns and story. I will be here to guide and empower you through your journey of discovery and wellness.
