Whitney Freund
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Hi! I’m Whitney Freund and I am the founder and lead therapist of Authenticity Counseling. Mental health is a true passion of mine and I am dedicated to providing my therapists and clients with the support they need to be successful with their goals. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 7 years of experience helping individuals and families address a range of mental health and life challenges. I graduated from the University of Illinois with my Masters in Social Work.
My specialties include working to support individuals and groups with neurodiversity, behavioral concerns, anxiety, depression, autism, social thinking challenges, ADHD, anger, relationship and family issues, self-esteem, transition to adulthood, mood disorders, and trauma-related issues with adolescents, adults, and families.
I have a strengths-based and holistic approach to therapy, working collaboratively with clients to identify their unique strengths and resources, and develop actionable plans to achieve their goals. With a focus on evidence-based practices, I am dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate, and effective care to ALL in my care.
I believe that all people should be able to be their authentic self and encourage my clients and staff to be the most authentic versions of themselves. As such, I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, neurodiverse affirming, and actively advocate for marginalized individuals who face injustice.
In my free time, I enjoy playing board games, traveling, and spending time with my husband and our furbaby (Cat Tax). I am a nerd at heart and also enjoy learning about the brain, different modalities of healing, and binge-watching Netflix and TedTalks. I am passionate about my commitment to help others and am dedicated to helping individuals and families live fulfilling and meaningful lives.
It is no small feat to get yourself or someone you love to try out a new therapist. Here at Authenticity counseling, we validate that challenge and if there is anything we can do while we are in session with you, please let us know how we can provide a safer, more positive experience for you. We are here to serve you and help you feel comfortable to be your most authentic you! My wish for you is to be well and be you!
